Coronavirus update, July 20: Stanislaus County single-day positivity rate drops below 10%

Latest facts on COVID-19 testing in Modesto area
The single-day infection rate in Stanislaus County dropped below 10% for the first time since July 8, according to figures released Sunday.
Of the 1,309 tests recorded, 124 came back positive for a rate of 9.47%, the county’s lowest since July 8 when 8.65% came back positive.
The 6,344 positive test results put Stanislaus County at No. 14 overall in the state. The county is the 16th most populous.
The 14-day rolling positivity rate remained just above 21%, nearly three times the state level of 7.4%.
Hospitalizations fell by two off the record high of 210 recorded Saturday, although there were just 7 percent of the adult intensive care unit beds available in the county’s five hospitals, according to the Stanislaus COVID-19 dashboard.
Death totals remained at 63.
Among the nearly 50,000 test results, 43,162 have come back negative. Among the positive cases, 3,124 people – nearly half – have been presumed recovered. The total positivity rate since March is 12.8%.
Among the five county hospitals, 34% of total beds are available, as are 26% of intensive care unit beds (7 percent for adult beds) and 63% of ventilators.
Of those who tested positive, 55% are female and 45% male. Fourteen percent are 20 or younger, 20% are 21 to 30, 19% are 31 to 40, 17% are 41 to 50, 14% are 51 to 60, 7% are 61 to 70, 4% are 71 to 80, 4% are 81 to 90, and 2% are older than 90.
Though they make up 47 percent of the population, Latinos represented 73 percent of the positive cases.
Modesto has 2,101 positive cases, 806 in Ceres, 751 in Turlock, 265 in Riverbank, 263 are in Patterson, 129 are in Oakdale, 111 are in Waterford, 81 are in Newman, and 59 are in Hughson. Of the cases in unincorporated areas, 416 are in supervisorial District 5, 389 are in District 3, which includes Salida, 231 are in District 2, 115 are in District 1, and 37 are in District 4.
- San Joaquin County has 83 COVID-19-related deaths among 7,819 cases.
- Merced County has 15 deaths among 2,403 cases.
- Tuolumne County has 85 positive cases and zero deaths.
- Mariposa County has 37 positive cases and one death.
San Joaquin, Merced and Tuolumne counties did not update totals on Saturday.
As of Monday morning, there were 386,906 confirmed cases in California and 7,715 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. There were 3,773,260 U.S. cases and 140,534 deaths.
