With multiple indoor sports needing to practice in the gym, some teams have made sacrifices.

For Gregori boys basketball, they have practiced at 6 a.m. everyday (7 a.m. the morning after games) to get ample practice time.

“They relished in that opportunity to do that,” Gregori coach Ryan Green said. “When I called them and said we’re having a season, they said we will do whatever it takes to get our practices and games.”

Maybe the early practices should remain next year as the Jaguars (8-0) remained undefeated with a 59-48 home win over Turlock on Friday in a Central California Athletic League game.

The Jaguars’ quest for an undefeated season continues against Enochs on May 19 before their season-finale at home against Modesto on May 21.

They clinched at least a share of the CCAL title with a win over Turlock.

Turlock led 8-0 early before Gregori junior Kyle Monk & Co. played their usual Jaguar basketball by forcing turnovers and moving the ball around on offense.

Green said the team has a deep rotation and part of the reason for success is there are no “bad attitudes.” on the team.

Monk had 23 points and the Bulldogs (3-4) had a tough time stopping him from getting easy inside baskets.

Senior Carlos Hernandez had 12 points for Gregori and sophomore Donovan Langarica added 11 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

Turlock senior Cameron Walker led the Bulldogs with 21 points.
