A 41-year-old man died early Monday morning after being hit by a train in downtown Turlock.

The man was hit by a northbound freight train on the tracks east of West Olive Avenue and North First Street at about 2:37 a.m., according to Turlock police.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Frank Fink of Turlock.

A news release from the Police Department said Fink was wearing all black. It did not include anything on how he came to be on the tracks.

The train was stopped for about 90 minutes, blocking intersections from West Canal to West F Street as officers were investigating the scene.
