Stanislaus County coronavirus deaths rise by one, positive cases near 500

Coronavirus deaths in Stanislaus County rose to 20 and the number of people testing positive reached 496, health officials reported.

New numbers were released late Saturday afternoon, and the number of deaths tied to the disease grew by one.

There was no immediate information about the latest recorded victim, including whether they were linked to the Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where 11 people have died.

Of the positive tests, Turlock has a county high of 158, followed by Modesto at 124.

The rate of positive tests stood at 6.5%, which was slightly down from the day before. The 496 positive cases were out of 7,617 tests, according to county figures.

The county does caution on its website that “due to the limited testing capacity, the information reported represents only a small portion of the likely total COVID-19 cases in the county. “
