New-to-Stanislaus restaurants opening in Riverbank’s Crossroads West

As Riverbank’s Crossroads West shopping center continues to develop, three more restaurants are being added to the site — two of which are new to the Central Valley.

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant — currently open at Crossroads — will move across the street into a space next to a pediatric dental office, according to a site plan from commercial real estate firm John Cumbelich & Associates.

The restaurant was established on the east side of Modesto in 1999 by the Herrera family, according to its website. It now has three locations: 2251 Claribel Road in Riverbank (established 2006), 3401 Oakdale Road in Modesto (established 1999) and in McHenry Village (established 2013).

Next to 88 Bao Bao, in suite 120 of Crossroads West, will be a nail salon. And next to that, WaBa Grill is opening in suite 130.

WaBa Grill is a Los Angeles-born, fast-casual restaurant “inspired by the rich traditions of Asian cuisine,” according to its website. It will be a first in Stanislaus County, the closest location being in Fresno.

At WaBa, customers can choose a protein like chicken, steak, “Plantspired Steak,” salmon, shrimp or tofu and order it one of three ways: in a bowl with rice, in a veggie bowl with rice and vegetables, or on a plate with rice, salad and dumplings.

Also on the menu are “ boom boom” tacos, salad and dumplings.

Next to WaBa will be Royal Pan Chinese in suite 140, and in suite 160, Paris Baguette will open.

Owned by South Korean food and beverage conglomerate SPC, Paris Baguette has over 4,000 locations worldwide, including 225 in the United States.

There are around 60 locations of the French-inspired bakery in California, mostly in the Bay Area and the southern part of the state. The closest to Modesto is in Livermore.

Paris Baguette sells cakes, pastries, specialty doughnuts and other sweets. Savory items include quiches, stuffed croissants, croquettes, baguettes and other breads.

On the heavier side are breakfast sandwiches, salads, sandwiches and wraps. Drink options include hot and iced Lavazza coffees, refreshers, iced teas, frappes and smoothies.

Four other units in Crossroads West are in lease negotiation, according to the site plan.
