Motown legend among two more artists added to Modesto’s Fruit Yard Amphitheater season
The 2025 concert season has been boosted with two more shows announced for the Fruit Yard Amphitheater.
Legendary Motown artist Smokey Robinson will bring his anniversary tour to the Modesto venue on June 13.
In addition, country singer Darius Rucker will perform there on Sept. 6.
Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, for Robinson’s show. Tickets are currently available to see Rucker, $73-$228.
Robinson’s tour celebrates the 50th anniversary of his acclaimed album “A Quiet Storm.” The Fruit Yard show will include guest artist August Lee Stevens.
An iconic R&B and soul singer, Robinson fronted the group The Miracles for nearly two decades and then went on to a solo career. Combined, his hits include “The Tracks of My Tears,” “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” “I Second That Emotion,” “The Tears of a Clown,” “Baby, Baby Don’t Cry” and “Just to See Her.”
Rucker first found fame as lead singer for the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish. In the 2000s, he struck out on his own and as a country artist scored hits such as “Wagon Wheel,” “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” “It Won’t Be Like This for Long” “Alright” and “History in the Making.”
The two artists join Chris Young and “Weird Al” Yankovic on this year’s roster. Young will perform May 9. Yankovic plays Aug. 23, with limited tickets available for that show.
Officially called The Fruit Yard Chicken Ranch Casino Resort Amphitheater, it’s at 7948 Yosemite Blvd. There is lawn seating and reserved seating to accommodate about 3,500 people.
