Will Modesto actor Renner continue being ‘Mayor of Kingstown’? And what else he has going
Fans of Modesto native Jeremy Renner’s “Mayor of Kingstown” can look forward to another season of the streaming series.
Paramount+ has renewed the crime drama for a fourth season, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter.
“Mayor of Kingstown” follows the powerful McLusky family in a fictional Michigan town dependent on the prison system.
The show ranked as the No. 1 series on the streaming platform during its season three run, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Beyer High graduate Renner stars as Mike McLusky, the town’s unofficial “mayor” and fixer.
Season three, which premiered in June, marked Renner’s return to the show after his near-fatal snowplow accident on New Year’s Day, 2023.
“What that guy has done behind the camera and in front of the camera is nothing short of spectacular in every regard,” series co-creator Hugh Dillon said of Renner in the Hollywood Reporter story. “A big driving force (of doing this show) is to see the satisfaction with Jeremy Renner. He made a giant comeback and to see him be artistically satisfied. The scripts are great, the characters great. And that’s what we want to do. We don’t want to leave any stone unturned.”
Academy Award-nominated Renner, also known for playing Marvel character Hawkeye, also will return to the big screen in 2025 with “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.” He joins Daniel Craig in the Netflix film, which first will be in theaters.
Renner, 53, recently shared his gratitude on social media two years after his snowplow accident.
He posted Jan. 1 on Instagram that he was “Ringing in my second ‘ReBirthday’ today.”
A photo also was posted of him and several medical staff members. “I send out my love, respect, and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again. Thank you to each and every nurse, doctor, first responder … I literally owe you my life.”
According to a previous story in The Bee, Renner was with family on his property near Reno when he went to clear his nephew’s vehicle from the snow after a storm. He had gotten out of the snowplow, which began rolling. When Renner tried to get back in to stop it, he was pulled under one of its treads and crushed.
