Another popular band bringing tour to Modesto region amphitheater. See who and when

Michael Franti & Spearhead bring their “Togetherness Tour” to Ironstone Amphitheatre, while Banda Los Recoditos will play at the Gallo Center. They are just two of the entertainment options set for the greater Modesto region Aug. 3-9.

Michael Franti & Spearhead

The “Togetherness Tour” pulls into Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys featuring Michael Franti & Spearhead. Also on the bill will be Trombone Shorty, Orleans Avenue and Citizen Cope. Franti is a singer, songwriter, musician, poet and rapper.

Banda Los Recoditos

Banda Los Recoditos, a Mexican band from Sinaloa, brings its music to the Gallo Center. The band’s sound features high-register horns, tuba and harmony vocals. Its first international hit was in 2010 with “Ando Bien Pedo” and the band since has appeared in the Top 20 on most Latin charts, according to the Gallo Center website.

We Own The Laughs

We Own The Laughs: Modesto returns to the State Theatre with a show featuring “Wild & Funny Latinas.” Performances will be by Serena Gamboa, Ilina Cortes, Stevona Delgado, Lulu Ayon and Vanessa Gonzalez. The host will be Glory Magaña. The show is for ages 18 and older.

Maddox Brothers & Rose reading

A staged reading about the rise of Maddox Brothers & Rose will be held at Modesto Junior College. The production, written by Arnold Anthony Schmidt and Ken White and directed by Jim Johnson, is about the Modesto family act’s Dust Bowl beginnings to the Grand Ole Opry. The group played country, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll. Over four decades starting in the 1940s, Rose Maddox played with Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Elvis Presley and Bob Wills, according to press release.

Elvis tribute

Sierra Repertory Theatre brings “Taylor Rodriguez as Elvis: The Ultimate Tribute” to its East Sonora Theatre. The show was created by Rodriguez, who starred in SRT’s “Elvis The Musical” in 2023. “The audience went wild for this guy,” SRT Executive Producer Scott Viets said in a press release. “His natural charm and soulfulness went a long way for our patrons (and our staff).” The production includes a live band.
