Why watch the movies’ biggest night on a TV screen when you can view it the way films are supposed to be seen. The State Theatre brings back its annual Red Carpet Party, showing the Academy Awards broadcast on its big screen.
It’s just one of several entertainment options in the Modesto region March 11-17, along with Central West Ballet’s anniversary gala, music, comedy and stage productions.
Red Carpet Party
The State Theatre presents the 95th Academy Awards on its big screen during its annual Red Carpet Party. The event is billed as “a swanky affair” on the theater’s website.

Anniversary Gala
Central West Ballet celebrates its 35th anniversary with a gala at the Gallo Center. There will performances featuring “The Best of CWB” over the years. Also planned is the premiere of a ballet choreographed by CWB Artistic Director René Daveluy with an original piano composition played on stage by composer Dale Trumbore.

Celtic Spells
Grammy and Emmy-nominated artist and composer Máiréad Nesbitt has been the featured violinist and a founding member of the group Celtic Woman. She brings her new production, Celtic Spells, to the Gallo Center, featuring the traditions of Celtic storytelling.

“Of Mice and Men”
Gallo Center Repertory Company presents “Of Mice and Men,” the story of two drifters who arrive at a ranch to work for the money to buy their own place. Problems ensue when the wife of the ranch boss is found dead in the barn with a broken neck.

Great American Songbook

Journey and Def Leppard tributes
Journey Revisited and Def Leppard Revisited play a show together at the State Theatre. The tribute acts replicate sounds of the two classic rock bands. The Fab Four
The Turlock Community Theatre brings in The Fab Four: The Ultimate Tribute, celebrating the music of the Beatles.
