Modesto-bred actor Timothy Olyphant has a role in a new miniseries, “Daisy Jones and the Six.”

The show, which premieres Friday, March 3, on Prime Video, is based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

“Daisy Jones and the Six,” according to deadline.com, is the story of an iconic 1970s band “fronted by two feuding yet charismatic lead singers...” They are played by Riley Keough (“Zola, “The Devil All the Time”), who is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and grandaugher of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, and Sam Claflin (“The Hunger Games” series).

Olyphant plays tour manager Rod Reyes. IMDb.com says he appears in all 10 episodes.

According to the deadline.com story, the lead singers are “drawn into a complicated musical partnership that quickly catapults the band from obscurity to unbelievable fame. ” Their artistic chemistry turns personal.

The band splits after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, the Deadline story said. “Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth. Set to the soundtrack of original music ... this is the story of how an iconic band imploded at the height of its powers.”

Olyphant is a Beyer High School graduate. The actor also will reprise his TV role as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in the revival series “Justified: City Primeval,” coming to FX this summer.

He received a 2011 Emmy nomination for his performance in the original “Justified” series.
