What are the best bands, best event, funniest person in Modesto region? Take a look
MAMA always has her favorites.
This year, the Modesto Area Music Association handed out its MAMA awards in 13 categories at a Tuesday night ceremony at the State Theatre in Modesto.
Categories include performers in a variety of music genres, as well as comedy, events and locations.
The annual ceremony featured handing out the awards and live music. While it was invitation-only, anyone could watch, as it was streamed online at modestoview.com.
Also honored was Kyle Barker, recipient of the lifetime achievement award.
Aside from Barker, winners were selected by public via online voting. More than 4,600 voted this year, according to an email from MAMA co-founder Chris Murphy, including people in 49 states and several countries.

Alternative/indie rock: Portrait of Elysia
Hard rock/metal band: No Silence
Americana/country: Golden Bough
Jazz & blues: Mike Hammar & The Nails
Unplugged: Tea Noelle
Youth band: They Catch Secrets
Blue collar: Sweet Mama Rachel & the Homemade Jam Band
Latin band: Valley Wolf
Comedy: Molly Magee
Bar/café/restaurant: Ralston’s Goat
Event: Porchfest
DJ: DJ Jag
Hip-Hop: Cobalt 45
