La Loma neighborhood shooting victim, suspect ID’d
The man who died Sunday morning after being shot in Modesto’s La Loma neighborhood has been identified as 35-year-old Gregory Pimentel of Hughson, police reported.
Detectives believe 29-year-old Eduardo Lopez of Ceres shot Pimentel in front of a home in the 200 block of Wilson Avenue about 4:30 a.m. after an argument. The men were at a mutual acquaintance’s residence in the area, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.
Pimentel ran to the 900 block of Pequeno Avenue, where he was found by emergency personnel. Lifesaving measures were administered, but Pimentel died at the scene. Lopez had left the area before police arrived.
Detectives are investigating the events leading up to the shooting and have issued a warrant for Lopez’s arrest.
