Love flowers? Want to see beautiful blooms? Modesto has a show for you
Spring blooms readied for their closeups on Sunday as members of the Camellia Society of Modesto held a practice show in anticipation of their yearly public extravaganza set for next weekend.
The main event, the 57th annual Modesto Camellia Show, returns Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18, at the E.&J. Gallo Winery. The judged competition and show is free and marks the only weekend each year that the Gallo grounds are open to the public.
People also can enjoy some 1,000 camellia plants while strolling the Gallo gardens in addition to viewing the plants in the American Camellia Society-sanctioned show.
Camellia plants of various sizes also will be for sale.
The show is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Gallo administration building, 600 Yosemite Blvd. For more information, call 209-522-0147.
