Turlock’s Pitman High to replace football coach after four seasons
In the first Stanislaus District high school football coaching move of the 2024-25 offseason, Eric Reza Sr. will not return to Pitman High next season, he confirmed to The Bee on Tuesday afternoon.
Reza has over 30 years of coaching experience, including multiple years at the Pride’s lower levels. He had stints coaching Pitman freshman and JV teams. He stepped in during the summer of 2021, leading Pitman out of the COVID-19 pandemic after a shortened spring season.
Reza started his coaching journey with a Patterson youth program in 1989 and coached at Pitman since 2007. He replaced Lance Weckerle, who resigned in mid-May of 2021 after coaching two seasons, as varsity coach.
Reza was informed of the decision Monday and he told the team at lunch Tuesday. In his time as varsity coach, the Pride went 10-29 overall and 7-13 in Central California Athletic League play.
Reza will continue to teach history at Pitman.
The Pride finished just over .500 in league play under Reza’s leadership but could not beat crosstown rival Turlock in their annual Harvest Bowl matchup. In his four seasons, Pitman lost 35-0, 57-14, 58-0 and 66-6.
