Roundup: Downey uses late touchdown to beat Gregori, Oakdale beats East Union

Downey sophomore quarterback Hudson Wyatt connected with sophomore wide receiver Gabe Hernandez for 37 yards and a touchdown with under a minute left as the Knights (1-2) picked up their first victory of the season in a 24-21 win over Gregori (1-2).

Jaguars junior Cruz Marines had three touchdowns, two of which were to senior wide receiver Trevien McLendon, including a 23-yard score with just over a minute remaining in the game.

Marines finished with 313 passing yards and 95 rushing yards while McLendon had five receptions for 153 yards.

The game was tied at 7 after three quarters before the offensive fireworks in the fourth.

Pitman 26, Modesto 13: Senior running back Jesse Luna had a 57-yard touchdown run in Pitman’s win over Modesto. The Pride moved to 2-1 while Modesto is 0-3.

Oakdale 35, East Union 27: The Mustangs (3-0) won on the road for the second week in a row. Oakdale had over 300 rushing yards with senior Zeke Saffar (24 carries for 124 yards and one touchdown) and junior Yahir Ayala (11 carries for 109 yards, two touchdowns) leading the way.

Kimball 62, Patterson 56: The Tigers (2-1) fell to the Jaguars (2-1) in a high-scoring affair.

Denair 46, Riverbank 6: The Coyotes (1-2) picked up their first win of the season over the Bruins (0-3).

Big Valley Christian, Millenium: The game was canceled Thursday afternoon after a positive test within the Millenium program.
