How did highly-touted, well-traveled quarterback find his way back to Turlock High?
There was a familiar face at a recent Turlock High football practice:
Junior quarterback Beau Green.
After transferring to Mater Dei in September, the three-star rated quarterback by 247Sports is back at Turlock.
However, you won’t see the touted signal-caller playing quarterback for the first few weeks of the season, including on March 19, when the Bulldogs host Downey in a Central California Athletic League matchup.
Speaking with the Bee after a recent practice, Green said he suffered an injury in his throwing-arm during a weight room workout while at Mater Dei and recently just got cleared to begin throwing again.
The injury is one reason why he made the decision to return to Turlock, Green said, as well as being away from his family and friends.
Because Green didn’t play as a sophomore at Turlock (missed entire season with shoulder surgery), the 6-foot-2 quarterback remains eligible despite transferring multiple times.
He played his freshman season at Downey and completed 65 of 105 passes for 1,021 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in five games before injuring his throwing shoulder.
He left after the first semester and enrolled at Modesto Christian, where his father, Ryan Green, was named head coach in January 2019. Ryan Green stepped down at MC in May 2019 and Beau transferred to Turlock, where his family lives.
Green will play in a variety roles on offense and defense for the Bulldogs until he returns as quarterback.
“He’s a heck of an athlete,” Turlock coach James Peterson said. “We will get him the ball when we can.”
