RC announces new football coach who was named a MaxPreps Coach of the Year in 2014
Ripon Christian High School announced the hiring of its new football coach on Friday, one with plenty of accolades.
Phil Grams, who coached at Capital Christian in Sacramento from 2011-15 and was named the 2014 MaxPreps Small School Coach of the Year in Northern California, replaces Randy Fasani as coach of the Knights.
Fasani stepped down after one season in late February.
“I am super excited about the opportunity to continue the success of the Knights football program,” Grams said in a press release.
During his five years as coach of the Cougars, Grams led the school to a 48-11 record and a 22-0 record in Golden Empire League play from 2012-15. Capital Christian won four league championships under Grams and won a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI title over Modesto Christian in 2014.
Grams spent the last four years on the coaching staff at Lawrence University in Wisconsin and was the team’s offensive coordinator for the last three seasons.
“Throughout the process, Coach Grams’ experience, expertise, and knowledge were only exceeded by his passion for the game of football as well as walking alongside young men as they grow and develop in their faith,” Ripon Christian Athletic Director Kevin Tameling said in a statement. “This combination will make for an excellent fit in the Ripon Christian community.”
