Roundup: RC boys hoops advance to NorCal Championship; Hilmar boys soccer fall

The Ripon Christian boys basketball team is one step away from another championship.

After beating Fall River, 70-49, in the CIF State NorCal Division VI semifinals on Saturday, the Knights (25-7) advanced to Tuesday’s title game where they will face Weed at 6 p.m. on the road.

Weed is 10 miles north of Mt. Shasta and Ripon Christian will travel nearly 300 miles for Tuesday’s title game.

Junior Will Gilbert led the Knights with 19 points in their win over the Bulldogs and junior Braden Van Groningen added 16 and senior Jacob Van Groningen had 14.

Hilmar boys soccer falls in NorCal title game: The Hilmar boys soccer season ended with a 2-0 loss to Oakland Tech in the CIF State NorCal Division V Championship on Saturday.

Hilmar beat Linden on Feb. 22 to win the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division V title.
