Notebook: Hilmar boys soccer to play for NorCal Championship on Saturday
For the second straight season, the Hilmar boys soccer team will play for a CIF State NorCal Division V Championship.
After losing 4-1 to Mission of San Francisco last year, the Yellowjackets (20-6) will play at Oakland Tech (11-2-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Hilmar traveled nearly four hours on Thursday to beat Anderson, 5-3, to advance to the championship.
RC boys to host semifinal game: Ripon Christian boys basketball hosts Fall River in the CIF State NorCal Div. VI semifinals on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Knights beat California School for the Deaf, 64-41, in the first round on Mar. 4.
The winner will face Ferndale or Weed in the championship on Tuesday.
Hughson girls basketball falls: The Hughson girls basketball team saw its season end with a 60-43 loss to Branson in the Div. V playoffs on Thursday.
The Huskies (21-10) were tied with the Bulls (24-9) at halftime and trailed by five after the third quarter but were outscored 20-8 in the fourth.
