Which schools advanced to section title games and when will they play?
Saturday’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Championship opponent will be a familiar one for the Central Valley boys soccer team.
The Hawks (20-3-3) will face Bella Vista, the team that beat Central Valley in penalty kicks in the title game last year.
The two will play at Liberty Ranch High School in Galt at 6 p.m.
“At this point, we don’t really care who the opponent is as long as we win it,” Hawks coach Omar Leon said. “The main objective is to get to the last game and carry the same intensity.”
To get to the final, Central Valley needed penalty kicks (6-5) to beat Del Oro in the semifinals on Tuesday.
The game was tied at 1 after overtime and senior Joel Arellano made his penalty kick attempt to end the game for the Hawks.
“It was a very exciting game that could have gone either way,” Leon said. “Before penalty kicks, I told them to shoot the way they normally shoot. We practice PK’s a lot.”
