Girls Soccer: Six local teams advance in the playoffs, including two CCAL squads
The two-time defending Division V champion Ripon girls soccer team opened the Division IV playoffs with an 8-0 victory over Marysville on Wednesday.
Ripon scored six goals in the first half and junior Kailey Tijero had a hat trick and two assists. Indians junior Ariana Scholten added a goal and four assists.
The Indians (18-4-1) host West Campus on Friday.
Division I
Turlock 3, Cosumnes Oaks 0: Sophomore Kylee Redman had a goal in the Bulldogs (15-5-2) victory the Wolfpack. Turlock is at Tracy on Friday.
Franklin-Elk Grove 4, Enochs 1: Enochs (8-7-4) saw its season end in a loss to the Wildcats. Sophomore Krysta Chavez had a hat trick for Franklin.
Div. II
Pitman 2, Bear Creek 0: Senior Sarah Sahagun and sophomore Hanna Delay both had goals for the Pride (18-5-1), who are at Granite Bay on Friday.
Div. III
Ceres 4, Merced 0: The Bulldogs (16-0-1) scored three goals in the first half and advanced with a win over the Bears (6-9-1).
Beyer 4, Buhach Colony 1: The Patriots (14-4-2) are at No. 1 Sierra on Friday in a rematch of last year’s semifinals in which the Timberwolves won, 3-0.
Div. IV
Sonora 7, Livingston 1: The Wildcats (14-4-3) host El Dorado in the quarterfinals on Friday.
