Sonora boys basketball beats Stagg in first round of Mark Gallo Tournament

Five Wildcats scored in double digits as the Sonora boys basketball team beat Stagg, 72-46, in the first round of the 2019 Mark Gallo Invitational on Tuesday at Central Catholic.

Senior Jon Mayben led the Wildcats (5-0) with 14 points and seniors Devon Dye and Austin Patterson each had 12.

The defending CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV champions next play Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of Manteca/Newark Memorial.

First round action continues Wednesday.

The schedule for Wednesday is: Burbank at Gregori (3:30 p.m.), Immanuel at Liberty Ranch (5 p.m.), Sacramento at Santa Cruz (6:30 p.m.) and Grant at Modesto (8 p.m.).
