Colleen Norby: How can anyone blame liberals for Trump’s inability to lead?

Re “Those who hate Trump dividing us” (Letters, Aug. 23): I take exception to the statement “He can’t get much done since the liberals in this country and The Bee attempt to shoot down anything this president tries to do.”

President Trump is his own worst enemy. He doesn’t understand the system of checks and balances inherent in our government. He thinks he can bully his way to what he has promised on the campaign trail. He can’t. Republicans hold a majority in Congress, yet they haven’t accomplished anything since Trump took office. How can you blame The Modesto Bee and liberals for this?

I respect the office of president. I hoped in spite of everything I knew about Donald Trump that somehow he would be successful. But he only wanted to win; he didn’t want to serve! He is thin-skinned. He learned to lie in private business and now he’s brought it to the public arena. He has never reached across the aisle and he is slowly losing support of his own party. I am not sure he understands what he should be doing as president because it’s clear he has no knowledge of American or world history. Thank goodness for the “generals.”
