Concerns about voter fraud subsided after the Nov. 5 election — particularly among supporters of President-elect Donald Trump, according to recent polling.

Morning Consult conducted two polls — one before and one after the election — asking respondents for their opinions on voter fraud.

In the first poll, which sampled 4,002 voters between Oct. 30 and Nov. 1, respondents were asked whether they agreed that “voter fraud is a serious issue that could determine the outcome of the election.”

The second poll, which sampled 4,012 voters between Nov. 20 and 22, asked respondents if they agreed that “voter fraud was a serious issue that determined the outcome of the election.”

Key findings

Before the election, 87% of Trump voters somewhat or strongly agreed that voter fraud was a serious issue that could affect the election outcome. Meanwhile, just 8% said they somewhat or strongly disagreed.

But after the election — in which Trump won all seven battleground states — just 36% of Trump voters agreed that voter fraud was a major issue, while 50% disagreed.

Supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris also became less concerned about voter fraud following the election, but the change was less dramatic.

Prior to Election Day, 51% of Harris voters said they agreed that voter fraud was a serious issue that could throw the election to one candidate. On the other hand, 43% disagreed.

Following Trump’s victory, 33% of Harris voters said they believed voter fraud was a major issue, while 56% disagreed.

Worries about voter fraud also decreased after the election among other groups, including battleground state voters.

Prior to the election, 68% of voters living in swing states agreed that voter fraud was a serious issue, but after the election, just 35% said the same.

The polls come after Trump repeatedly made unsubstantiated claims that there was widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election. Multiple analyses — including one conducted by Trump’s own attorney general — turned up no evidence of systematic voter fraud.
