A man was rock climbing in Hawaii when he fell 25 feet, rescuers said.

The rock climber was injured in Mokuleia, a community in Oahu, after falling Monday, Feb. 21, around 3:45 p.m. local time the Honolulu Fire Department said.

Sixteen rescuers rushed to help the man.

“The first unit arrived at the scene at 4:05 p.m., established command and started hiking to make contact with the rock climber,” the fire department said in a news release. “A landing zone was established at the Kealia Trail trailhead.”

The man, who is in his 30s, had multiple injuries. Rescuers decided they would need to fly him from the area.

A helicopter crew hoisted the rock climber from the area and took him to get medical care.

Rescuers did not disclose the man’s condition or what injuries he had at the time.
