A hiker found clinging to a Daly City cliff had to be rescued by helicopter, California firefighters reported.

The man had hiked along a Palisades Park cliff to a point where it became too steep and narrow to reach a trail, stranding him at about 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, the North County Fire Authority said in a news release.

A firefighter rappelled 500 feet down the cliff to reach the hiker, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter lowered a second firefighter to the man, the release said.

The helicopter airlifted the hiker to safety, firefighters said. He was uninjured. The rescue took about 90 minutes.
