As campuses throughout the Modesto area are preparing to close out the 2025-26 academic year, the last day of school can vary by district.
To help families plan ahead, The Modesto Bee looked into when classes officially end for students in Stanislaus County and surrounding areas.
Here are the last school days for students attending elementary, middle and high schools in and around Stanislaus County:

The Stanislaus County Office of Education oversees 25 public school districts, serving students from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade.
Here’s when students in each district are expected to begin summer break, according to district calendars and school websites:
- Ceres Unified School District — Friday, June 5
- Chatom Union School District — Friday, May 29
- Denair Unified School District — Thursday, May 21
- Empire Union School District — Friday, May 29
- Gratton School District — Thursday, May 28
- Hart-Ransom School District — Thursday, June 4
- Hickman Community Charter District — Friday, May 29
- Hughson Unified School District — Thursday, May 28, for students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. Friday, May 29, for students in ninth through 12th grade.
- Keyes Union School District — Friday, May 29
- Knights Ferry School District — Thursday, May 28
- Modesto City Schools District — Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, May 29, depending on grade and school.
