COVID cases in Stanislaus County schools drop to 102 for week starting Nov. 7
COVID-19 cases in Stanislaus County schools dropped to just over 100 last week.
School officials report cases to the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency. The county’s dashboard shows cases confirmed in school settings declined to 102, from about 270 in mid-October and from 370 in mid-September.
Cases also have become more evenly distributed across grade level groups. High school students and fifth- to eighth-graders each accounted for 26% of cases reported, and pre-K to fourth-grade students accounted for 25%. Staff comprised 19%.
Schools reported three outbreaks and one active cluster. An outbreak is three cases linked to the same exposure, and a cluster is two cases linked to the same exposure. Public health officials identified 53 instances being “monitored for additional cases.” By comparison, in late October, public health officials identified 119 active instances being monitored for additional cases.
As of Wednesday, 170 students and staff were in isolation and 350 close contacts were in some form of quarantine.
Modesto City Schools confirmed 47 cases Nov. 6-12. This reflects 0.15% of students and staff on campuses, the district’s dashboard shows.
Since students began learning in person in August, Modesto City has confirmed 835 student cases and 121 staff cases.
COVID-19 cases in Turlock Unified School District dropped to 12 from Nov. 6-12. An employee accounted for one of these cases, according to the district’s dashboard. The cases exposed 117 people as close contacts, according to the dashboard.
School leaders from smaller districts have told The Bee they are not able to maintain a public COVID-19 data display because of limited staffing resources.
