Two more arrested in Modesto homicide

Police have arrested two more people suspected in the stabbing death of a 43-year-old man earlier this month, bringing the total facing charges in the case to three.

Al Lee Jones was stabbed several times at a home on Roselawn Avenue in west Modesto early Jan. 11. Police arrested Moses Garcia, 21, after he sought treatment for stab wounds at a local hospital.

Garcia claimed he was stabbed when someone tried to rob him as he walked along Coffee Road, but detectives connected him to the homicide case, authorities said. On Wednesday, police arrested Garcia’s girlfriend, Cynthia Montiel, 25, and a friend, Anthony Saucedo, 20.

According to authorities, Montiel and Saucedo drove Garcia away from the scene of the crime.

Investigators have not determined a motive. They still are looking into the case and believe more people were involved.
