Arraignment in Modesto fatal stabbing
A man accused of murder in a fatal west Modesto stabbing pleaded not guilty to the charge Friday afternoon.
Authorities allege Moses Garcia is responsible for the death of 43-year-old Al Lee Jones. He was stabbed at a home on Roselawn Avenue in west Modesto about 2 a.m. Sunday.
Garcia, 21, remained in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail. His bail was set at $1 million.
Superior Court Judge Dawna Reeves scheduled Garcia to return to court Feb. 6 for a pretrial hearing.
Authorities responding to a report of a man not breathing found Jones lying on the front porch at the Roselawn Avenue home.
Officers later were notified that Garcia showed up at a Modesto hospital with a stab wound on his hand. Garcia had a bandage wrapped around his right hand when he appeared in court Friday.
