Atwater custodian suspected in Turlock bank robbery turns himself in

The man suspected of robbing Tri Counties Bank in Turlock turned himself in to authorities early Thursday morning.

Clinton Russell Holmes, a 35-year-old Atwater resident, turned himself in at the Turlock Police Department at 3 a.m.

Holmes was arrested for the bank robbery, and some of the stolen money has been recovered.

Homes was an employee of a janitorial service that cleans the Tri Counties Bank at 2900 Geer Road. No one was injured during the Tuesday robbery, when Holmes allegedly entered the bank and asked an employee to step to the back of the business. He told the teller that it was a robbery and demanded money before running out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

An investigation into the robbery continues.

Investigators ask anyone with information on the case to call Detective Brandon Bertram at 209-668-5550, ext. 6623. Callers also can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636 and may be eligible for a reward.
