The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office seized 1,800 pounds of illegal fireworks and five “assault-style” firearms from an Empire home, according to a news release.

On Thursday, July 2, deputies served a search warrant at the home and arrested one individual in connection with the illegal items. The investigation remains active and ongoing, according to the news release.

“As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we encourage everyone to enjoy a fun and, most importantly, safe Fourth of July,” the department said in a statement. “Celebrate responsibly, make smart choices and do your part to help keep our community safe as we honor this historic milestone together.”
