Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old Riverbank man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a Modesto woman earlier this week, officials said.

The California Highway Patrol Modesto Area office said investigators located the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash with assistance from CHP’s Investigative Services Unit and the Riverbank Police Department. The vehicle was recovered and taken as evidence.

A 19-year-old male from Riverbank was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in the pedestrian’s death.

The crash occurred around 9 p.m. April 7 near Claribel Road and Langworth Road. The victim, identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Peggy Holt, 79, of Modesto, was struck by a vehicle and died from her injuries.

Authorities previously said the driver fled the scene following the collision.
