Ceres police said Tuesday that Zocario Benjamin Munoz, 20, of Modesto was the victim of the fatal shooting in Riverview Park last week.

No arrests have been announced in the shooting, which was reported at about 2 a.m. Dec. 3. The park is about a quarter-mile south of the Tuolumne River and west of Mitchell Road.

Police did not have an update Tuesday on the unidentified man who was seriously wounded in the shooting. The initial news release said it may have been gang-related.

A fundraiser on Facebook was launched for the family of the deceased man, better known as Zee. It includes young son Zaylen and girlfriend Andrea.

“Zee had quickly become the sole provider for his little family,” the post said, “and with his loss, baby Zay and Andrea are left without his support in addition to having to cope with the grief of his memory.”

Police said last week that a group had gathered at the park when several unidentified males in a vehicle approached. Shots were fired during a confrontation, striking the two victims, the release said.

Anyone with information about the case can contact Detective Welsh at 209-538-5616.
