The Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office has filed a complaint against a suspect in the burglary of the Queen Bean Coffee & Social House.

The coffee shop’s owners, Sam Pierstorff and Ruhi Sheikh, announced the burglary on social media Sunday and posted photos of the suspect from their surveillance cameras. The break-in occurred Saturday around 10:30 p.m.

Using a clear photo, detectives assigned to the Modesto Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit were able to identify 39-year-old Emmanuel Dominguez of Milpitas as the suspect.

An MPD patrol officer was out ”walking the beat” when the officer contacted an employee at a local hotel, according to the Police Department. The employee recognized Dominguez from a social media post and confirmed he was staying at the hotel.

A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s room, where detectives located the stolen property from the burglary and property believed to be stolen from the Bay Area, according to police.

Dominguez was arrested Tuesday morning after an officer spotted him at a local business. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

The DA’s Office filed a criminal complaint Wednesday morning with charges against Dominguez for felony burglary in the second degree and grand theft.

Both charges came with an enhancement because Dominguez had been released on bail or on his own recognizance pending judgment on an earlier felony offense of assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run with property damage.

There was a warrant for his arrest for those charges out of Santa Clara County. More charges may be filed by Stanislaus County based on an ongoing investigation, Chief Deputy District Attorney Wendell Emerson said.

The suspect was convicted in Santa Clara County in March 2022 of multiple crimes including felony kidnapping, according to the complaint.

“Thanks to the support of the community, Modesto was able to take down a career criminal,” Queen Bean owner Sam Pierstorff said. “That’s something to be proud of. If we all watch out for each other, we win. I’m so proud of this town.”
