Three teens arrested in shooting of Oakdale woman in Modesto

Two young men and a 15-year-old girl were arrested in Modesto early Monday morning in connection with an attempted robbery and shooting of an Oakdale woman.

The incident occurred at 12:15 a.m. at East Coolidge Avenue and Kent Way, southeast of Briggsmore Avenue and Coffee Road, according to Modesto police Lt. Steve Stanfield

The 23-year-old victim was hospitalized with two gunshot wounds but is expected to survive. Due to her condition, Stanfield said investigators have not been able to talk to her yet to determine what she was doing in the area, if she knows the suspects or what they were trying to take from her.

Shortly after the shooting, officers located three suspects at Sutter Park on East Orangeburg Avenue, less than a mile away from the crime scene, Stanfield said.

One of the suspects, 18-year-old Gail Gardner, was found to be in possession of a handgun. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and carrying a loaded and concealed firearm not registered to him.

George Mansilla, 19, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and conspiracy.

A 15-year-old girl, who was listed as a runaway, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy.
