Update: Suspicious package at mobile home park box of magnets, evacuation ended
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has called off an evacuation notice after a suspicious package call turned out to be nothing more than a box full of wrapped magnets.
Sgt. Luke Schwartz said deputies and the bomb team responded to a call about the package sometime before 2:40 p.m. at the Riverview Mobile Home Park at 8200 Jantzen Road.
Some residents were evacuated “out of an abundance of caution,” but the investigation quickly showed the item was not harmful.
“We made sure it was nothing dangerous,” Schwartz said.
