Woman airlifted after crashing golf cart in Oakdale, arrested on DUI charges

A 63-year-old woman was airlifted to the hospital Friday afternoon after crashing her golf cart in an alleged DUI incident in Oakdale, the California Highway Patrol said.

The woman was driving eastbound Friday afternoon on Dixon Road, west of Fox Borough Drive, CHP Officer Tom Olsen said. For unknown reasons, she turned left off the roadway before hitting a curb and then a large landscape boulder.

An initial investigation shows the woman was ejected from the golf cart and hit her head on the bolder, fracturing a bone in her right eye socket and sustaining lacerations to her head and face. She was taken by a medical helicopter to Doctors Medical Center for her injuries.

Olsen said the woman was arrested on a DUI charged before being released to the hospital to receive proper care for her injuries.
