Police are investigating a homicide committed late Friday just west of the Modesto Airport.

Officers and Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched about 11 p.m. to a report of a person down in the roadway in the area of South Conejo Avenue and Oregon Drive.

A man identified as a Modesto resident, 25-year-old Joel Vasquez Barragan, was found in the street and later pronounced dead.

The Modesto Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit is investigating the case. No information on the cause of death or the suspect has been released.
