Modesto man in jail for one shooting charged with previous murder. 2nd suspect sought
A Modesto man who has been in custody on charges related to a double shooting in June was re-booked Wednesday night on suspicion of murder in connection with another shooting two months earlier.
Modesto police also arrested a 17-year-old girl on an accessory charge and are looking for a second murder suspect in the death of 20-year-old Robbie Hull Jr.
Hull was fatally shot following an “exchange” with the suspects on April 14, 2019, on Lita Court, off of Crows Landing Road, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear. An 18-year-old man and a woman in her 40s were also shot and have since recovered, Bear said.
Last month, police released video of a blue/green Honda Pilot that the suspects allegedly fled in after the shooting.
Since then, a 17-year-old girl was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of being an accessory to Hull’s murder and detectives identified Fernando Garcia, 22, and Sacaria Perieda, both of Modesto, as the alleged shooters. Bear said they both fired guns.
Bear would not say how the 17-year-old girl was connected to Garcia or Perieda or release any information about her role in the crime.
Garcia has been in custody since June 28, charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a man and woman at Ninth and D streets in downtown Modesto a few weeks earlier. Additional charges, including murder and committing the crime for the benefit of a gang in relation to the Lita Court homicide, were added Wednesday.
Police have issued a warrant for Perieda’s arrest.
Bear said both suspects are gang members but none of the victims are associated with gangs.
Anyone with information about Pereida’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Randy Bolinger at 209-342-9162 or contact Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
