Sonora woman killed in Highway 120 crash identified by coroner
A 24-year-old Sonora woman who died in a rollover crash earlier this month on Highway 120 near La Grange has been identified as Alicia Nohealani Davis, according to the Tuolumne County Coroner’s Office.
Davis died in the crash reported around 11:40 p.m. May 8 on State Route 120 east of La Grange Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said Davis was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Golf eastbound at an unknown speed when the vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder and overturned. CHP said Davis was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and alcohol is suspected to have been a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
In the days following the crash, family members and loved ones created a GoFundMe fundraiser titled “Support for Alicia’s Children and Family.”
The fundraiser describes Davis as “a loving mother to two young children, a daughter, a sister, and someone deeply loved by those around her.”
“Her loss has left an enormous hole in the lives of everyone who knew her,” the fundraiser states.
According to the page, donations will help cover funeral and memorial expenses and provide support for Davis’ children and family.
CHP previously told The Bee investigators were seeking witnesses because nobody appeared to have seen the crash occur, and authorities were attempting to determine the sequence of events leading up to the rollover.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Sonora Area CHP office at 209-984-3944.
