Sonora woman killed in Highway 120 rollover crash in Tuolumne. CHP seeks witnesses
A 24-year-old Sonora woman was killed Friday night in a rollover crash on Highway 120 east of La Grange Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. Friday on State Route 120 east of La Grange Road in Tuolumne County, the CHP said in a news release.
Authorities said the woman was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Golf east on Highway 120 at an unknown speed when the vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder and overturned.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
Investigators said the woman was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is also suspected to have been a factor.
The woman’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The CHP is asking the public’s assistance related to the crash. Officer Steven Machado said investigators are attempting to determine the sequence of events leading up to the rollover because there apparently were witnesses to the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sonora-area CHP office at 209-984-3944.
