Layoffs to hit transportation company facilities in Stanislaus and nearby counties
A transportation company has notified Stanislaus County that it’s laying off 126 employees at 25 locations in the state.
According to the March 30 notice, Sentinel Transportation is cutting 24 jobs at the company’s facility on B Street in Modesto and one in Newman.
The reduction affects seven other employees in this region, in Sonora, Stockton, San Andreas and Atwater, and 32 workers in Sacramento and West Sacramento. The remaining cuts are spread among 17 other facilities in California.
The layoffs will begin May 31.
Sentinel Transportation, a subsidiary of Phillips 66, delivers refined petroleum products and renewable fuels. A restructuring is moving a Sentinel division to another entity within the parent company, resulting in the layoffs, the company’s letter said.
The affected employees include drivers, managers and a mechanic. The workers were given 60 days advance notice of their termination, Sentinel said.
