Delhi woman killed in Denair-area crash identified by Stanislaus coroner
Authorities have identified the woman who died following a crash Tuesday evening at a rural intersection near Denair as 80-year-old Rosa Renteria of Delhi.
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office confirmed Renteria’s identity after she died at Doctors Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 5:31 p.m. March 24 at Gratton Road and East Avenue. Emergency crews arrived to find a Chevrolet pickup and a Honda sedan with major damage.
Renteria was a passenger in the Honda, which was driven by 76-year-old Jose Renteria of Delhi. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries, the CHP said.
Investigators said a 16-year-old driver from El Dorado Hills was traveling south on Gratton Road and approached a stop sign at East Avenue but failed to yield the right of way. The Honda, traveling west on East Avenue, struck the left side of the pickup in a broadside crash.
The teen driver suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized. A 77-year-old passenger in the pickup, a man from Winton, was not injured.
All occupants were wearing seat belts, and drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash, according to the CHP.
The CHP said there are no new updates in the investigation.
