Fitness classes in Stanislaus County to support domestic violence survivors
Get fit for a good cause this month — Domestic Violence Awareness Month — at several Stanislaus County fitness and wellness studios.
The studios have teamed with Modesto’s HAVEN to support survivors of domestic violence through a series of donation-based community classes , according to a press release from Victoria Popoff, a HAVEN board member.
Popoff owns Studio V Pilates, one of the businesses taking part to help HAVEN raise awareness and funds.
Participating studios will host classes with 100% of the proceeds benefiting HAVEN (Healthy Alternatives to Violent Environments), a local nonprofit dedicated to serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence, the release said.
“Wellness spaces are uniquely positioned to foster connection and safety,” Popoff said in the release. “When studios open their doors for a cause like this, they help transform awareness into action.”
