Central West Ballet’s annual Halloween production comes to the Gallo Center for the Arts, as does a trio of female classic pop hit makers. These are two of the several entertainment options in the Modesto region from Oct. 18-24. Also included is the MoChiBoo Bash for families on Oct. 17.
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”
Modesto’s Central West Ballet presents its Halloween production, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” at the Gallo Center. Based on Washington Irving’s classic, the ballet tells the story of Ichabod Crane’s journey through haunted woods as he tries to escape the Headless Horseman.

Trio of classic pop singers
“Ladies Night: Sheena Easton, Taylor Dayne & Tiffany!” comes to the Gallo Center with the three classic pop stars performing in one show. Easton’s hits include “Morning Train“ and “Sugar Walls.“ Dayne is known for “Tell It to My Heart,“ among others. Tiffany made the charts with “I Think We’re Alone Now“ and “Could’ve Been.“

Under the Streetlamp
Featuring former stars of “Jersey Boys,” Under the Streetlamp is an ensemble that performs a blend of doo-wop, Motown and rock. The group sings hits by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, as well as The Beach Boys, The Drifters, Dion, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, The Supremes, Bobby Darin and The Beatles. Limited tickets were available.

“Only Fangs”
The film “Only Fangs” is a vampire horror comedy written and directed by Stanislaus County filmmakers Paul Ragsdale and Angelica De Alba. Set for its screening at the State Theatre, the movie is a riff on 1980s vampire movies. The plot, according to a story in The Bee, is about an amateur monster hunter who helps vampire girls create an app that turns victims into customers. A mix of horror and camp, the movie includes scenes shot in Modesto.

“Modesto Confidential”
Offered at the State Theatre by the Modesto Police Investigators Association, “Modesto Confidential” features a presentation about a real homicide and the detectives involved. “A child was playing with his family when a hail of bullets ended his life,” according to the theater’s website. “For the first time ever, the Modesto Police Homicide Detectives who solved the case will take you behind the scenes — revealing how they uncovered the truth, followed every lead, and brought justice to a grieving family.” There will be complimentary beer and wine tastings from 5 to 6:30 p.m., appetizers and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the people and programs the Modesto Police Investigators Association supports. For ages 21 and over only.

MoChiBoo Bash
The MoChiBoo Bash Family Party at the Modesto Children’s Museum promises after-hours Halloween fun. The museum will offer a Monster Mash Dance Party, a Trick-or-Treat Trail, family costume giveaway, hands-on crafts, games and more. Space is limited.

BlackHawk
Country music’s BlackHawk will bring its harmony to a performance at Turlock Community Theatre. The group has sold more than 7 million albums, with country radio hits in the 1990s, according to the theater’s website.

Día de los Muertos
A two-evening Día de los Muertos event will be held at Modesto’s McHenry Museum. Called the “Between Two Worlds: Día de los Muertos Celebration,” it promises ofrendas (altars dedicated to deceased loved ones), folklorico dancers, music, a lowrider car show at 14th and I streets (Friday only, beginning at 6:30 p.m.) and more. People can take copies of photos to add to a community ofrenda, or sign up for a space to build their own at the museum.

MAPS program
Modesto Area Partners in Science presents a program on advances in neuro-engineering, neural networks and interfacing the human brain with technology. The presentation by Dr. Karen Moxon, from the UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Lab, will focus on potential applications in understanding, treating and restoring function after neurological injuries or diseases such as spinal cord injury, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
