A 35-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday southwest of Modesto, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The Stanislaus County coroner identified the man as Travis Gredvig of Tracy.

The CHP received a call from the rider’s friend at 8:45 p.m. Saturday and used the ping on the Gredvig’s phone to locate the crash in the Shiloh and Paradise road area.

An officer found the crashed motorcycle and Gredvig, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation indicated the motorcyclist had been traveling south on Shiloh Road, south of Paradise, and for unknown reason, veered to the left. The motorcycle drove off the east side of the road onto a dirt area and struck a tree stump.

The CHP said Gredvig was wearing a helmet.
