While Modesto is still waiting for its own location, a new Chick-fil-A is set to open in Merced, serving up the chain’s famous chicken sandwiches and waffle fries.

Where is new Chick-fil-A location opening?
Merced’s new Chick-fil-A will be in the area of 15th Street and Martin Luther King Way near Highway 99, city officials told the Merced Sun-Star in November 2023.
The fast food restaurant will join a hub of popular brands, including In-N-Out Burger, Wendy’s, Taco Bell and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
It wasn’t clear as of Wednesday, Sept. 11, when the new Merced County location will open.
How close is new fast food restaurant to Modesto?
According to Google Maps, the Chick-fil-A location in Merced will be roughly 39 minutes away from Modesto by car.
Where is nearest Chick-fil-A to me?
The closest Chick-fil-A location to Modesto is in Manteca in San Joaquin County. The restaurant opened in April 2020.
It is an approximate 20-minute drive from Modesto, according to Google Maps.
Which restaurant do you most want in Stanislaus County?
Chick-fil-A isn’t the only national restaurant chain that area residents want to see in Stanislaus County.
In 2022, The Modesto Bee reported that residents were also eager for The Cheesecake Factory and Cracker Barrel locations to open in the area.
Those chains are among the Top 50 national chain restaurants in terms of domestic sales, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.
