Pedestrian killed by car in western Stanislaus County incident Sunday morning is identified
A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car Sunday morning in western Stanislaus County has been identified as Miguel Angel Carmona-Zamora of Crows Landing.
The 44-year-old man walked directly into the path of a northbound Honda Civic on Highway 33, north of Ike Crow Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. north of Crows Landing. The driver wasn’t able to take evasive action.
Emergency units responding to the call found Carmona-Zamora lying in the northbound lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 23-year-old Newman woman, was not injured.
The CHP said Carmona-Zamora is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.
