Stanislaus investigators trying to determine cause of fatal fire in Ceres Friday evening
The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of a fatal fire that occurred at a mobile home in Ceres on Friday evening.
The department, along with Modesto firefighters, responded to the 3900 block of Central Avenue around 5:45 p.m. after 911 callers reported a mobile home on fire with a person possibly still inside, according to a Facebook post from the Modesto Fire Department.
Firefighters searched the home and found an elderly occupant. They removed the occupant and an ambulance crew provided initial medical care.
The occupant was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The fire was extinguished before it could spread to other mobile homes, according to Modesto Fire.
The identification of the victim is pending notification of family.
